Latest Happenings

Ladies and Gentlemen, I've made it. Yours truly has been enshrined into the emoticon hall of fame at the largest sports card collecting community, Blowout Cards!  I ... errrr ... my twin ... is now the "Editor in Chief". I'm not saying that BOuschi and myself are one in the same; I'm just saying that no one has ever seen us in the same room together before.  ;) In addition to this, if you wanted to type in :bouschi: when making a thread at BO, the mug you see above shows up. In other news, I've picked up some 10x14

There’s Something about Wood

I've got to be honest with you, I'm not sure where to start! As if you couldn't tell by my writing, sometimes my hobbies take up way too much space in my brain. I don't have a "chill" button. It is either FULL SPEED or NOT AT ALL. I guess I'll start at the beginning. This has been an action packed week for the hobby side of my life.  To start off, fellow supercollector AJ and I made yet ANOTHER huge, massive trade.  It involved a lot of blood sweat and tears, but after about a week, we hammered a

Customs with a Home Run Game Used Bat & Ball

This week has been stuffed to the gills with making customs for people who won my customs contest & customs just for fun for my own collection.  While it has taken a long time and kept me busy, it sure has been fun. I was kind of bummed about Topps not making a NOW card as a throwback of Canseco, so I made my own. After I did that, I thought HEY!  What not do one of Tim Tebow on the Mets? and what about Ginny Baker from the new show Pitch? As if that weren't exciting enough, why not

When Supercollectors Trade

Supercollectors are an interesting breed. For us, buying a card is easy.  Finding a card is hard, and trading with another supercollector is extremely hard.  Why? Because you generally have the same cards, and if you don't, that means the card is EXTREMELY rare, and you likely will not want to part with it. That is what makes my latest deal with AJ blog-worthy.  We both knew we had cards each other wanted.  He initiated the conversation, and brought up this card that I had picked up a few months back: This is from the famous Wheeler Collection!  I don't

What’s on my Desk with Bart Man?

Evenin' boys and girls! Tonight, we are going to have our maiden post called "What's on my Desk with Bart Man?" This is really mainly a way for me to showcase a random card I have decided to display by my monitor, on my desk to appreciate what I have, instead of always thinking about what I don't have. First up is what I'm displaying and enjoying now. 2000 Upper Deck Game Jersey Patch I picked this up from a fellow collector named Kurt who has commissioned me to do several high end pieces for his collection. Thanks TONS again

Latest Pickups

These past few weeks have been awesome for my collection.  I figured I'd share what has come in! There is just so, so much that I'm excited about here, but there are a few that I thought should receive some attention.  (The A&G's will not be talked about, as I wrote about them earlier.) The oddball of the month award goes to: This is only the 2nd SP buyback I have This /5 card is one I never thought I'd see This popped up literally a day after I got my first version of it (the jersey/auto).  I am in

Customs, Patch Peek-a-boo and How to House Annoying Sized Cards

"They look too much like the last several years." "These seem to be a bit boring." "Maybe it is time for them to retire this line." I've heard a lot of criticism of the 2016 Allen & Ginter line, and I was actually not too terribly excited about them myself. They just seemed to uninspired to me. And then they hit eBay. As a Canseco collector, the pictures the card companies use are important to me, and Topps hit the nail on the head. The 2016 base rendition is my absolute favorite base A&G of any of them. Allen &

RAINBOW ALERT! 2016 Donruss Signature Series

The last card I needed for the rainbow came in today for my 2016 Donruss Signature Series ... the black 1/1.  Thank you Bill and Chase for reaching out to me.  I hope you all land that special piece for your collection! I REALLY wanted to complete this rainbow, because it is such an anomaly. - It is not licensed - It has no logos - The autographs are not on card On paper, this shouldn't be special.  However, in spite of all this, I count this as the most aesthetically pleasing / eye popping rainbow I've seen. 8 cards

My Crusade is Complete! Plus, my (almost) ENTIRE Want List … In Pics!

At long last, my Crusade is complete!  My 1998 Donruss Crusade rainbow, that is!  Ever since I started seriously collecting Canseco, The 98 Crusade Red was at the top of my wish list - perhaps it was even my first recognized white whale.  I kept thinking to myself ... they are numbered to 25, so how hard can it be to get one?  (Insert painful belly laugh here.) Looking back on my blogs, the start of my new Canseco collection started 2 about 2 1/2 years ago, so that is about the amount of time it took me to finally

A Tale of Two White Whales

I was going to add this in with my next article coming up in the next few days (which I'm quite excited about sharing with you) but decided to dedicate a post just to this, because it was so epic! The following is not a story of a brand new shiny 1/1 with pieces of memorabilia, and autographs.  No, this is a story of 2 cards - each with very intriguing backgrounds...stories so rich that they make those who collect older cards dream about the day they get to add them to their collections. Last week, I shared with you my monster
