Picked up a massive collection of … Comic Books?

Yes, believe it or not, I picked up a bunch of COMIC BOOKS!  I was cruising the internet a few nights ago, and found someone that had 24 long boxes for sale.  A good friend of mine who is a dealer gave me some pointers, so I decided to call up the seller.  As it turns out, he owns his own business, and picked these up, in hopes of doing some comic shows.  The shows cancelled, an he needed the cash quickly for inventory for his biz.  I was more than happy to help out :) The card-mobile becomes a

I Traded my Autographs for a Car!

This past Friday, a few dealers flew in from Kansas and Colorado to inspect the autographs I had recently acquired.  We agreed to meet at the gas station down the road ... until my wife called in a panic: "BABE!!!  I was wrong - Cub Scouts is at 10, not 12!!!"  (it was 9:55 or so when she called).  So I had to (quickly) bring the party of out of towners home, and hastily throw everything in the garage, from the cardboard-mobile to setup shop and show them the goods there.  After a few hours of looking through them, and going

7,000+ Autographed Baseball Card Acquisition – Want some?

Yes, it's true.  I just acquired one of the larger known autographed baseball card collections in Arizona.  It was assembled over the past 20 years from the Arizona Fall League, Spring Training, Legends Games, public signings, etc.  Every single one of these cards are autographed! It has been really fun to go through.  There are duplicates of several players, but most cards are different.  It is neat because if you want an autograph from a specific player, you generally are limited to whatever cards he has been told to sign by Topps.  This collection has all kinds of cards that

This past weekend’s sports card show = WINNING

I have been going to card shows for years.  I would say that this is the best one yet..by quite a  bit!  I went all three days, and took my son with me one of the days, as usual.  While his eyes were searching for all things star wars, I was on the hunt for deals that I can have fun with and get rid of in order to keep this a debt free hobby for me.  Let's just say I'm going to have to sell more from this show in order for that to happen ;)  Friday evening was

A note to myself when getting googly-eyed at blaster boxes

I was gonna do a video of myself addressing me of the future, but figured I'd chillax on the whole vid thang for a while.  Instead, here is a letter: Dear me of the future, You are reading this because for whatever reason, you are planning on buying boat loads of blaster and retail boxes ... heck ... even hobby boxes.   Some of the many, many boxes I picked up this past winter.  Man, was that fun! Possible causes are: - it is your birthday or christmas - there is a monster card show in town - you have read

HUGE Astros Collection Find

I decided to take a trip over an hour away to visit a guy with an Astros game used collection that was said to be one of the biggest in Texas.  While I doubt that, I must say, I am very pleased with the purchase.  The only bad thing that came of it was the possible malaria I contracted thanks to the thousands of mosquitos that made a buffet out of me while the seller and I were outside talking.  I am sitting here watching Bryce Harper at bat in his first major league game, and going through everything.  I

Vacationing and Cardboard – Mammoth Purchase!

The wife and I took our son to Legoland this past weekend and stayed in a hotel.  A good time was had by all!  We were able to take lots of pictures, be together, and catch up with some good friends.  If you are a subscriber here though, you don't want to hear about that - you want to hear about the score, so I'll get right down to it!  First off, when getting lost on the way, we found a Dick's Sporting Goods.  I read on the internet that they sometimes sell cards - I went in, and lo

30,000 Stars, Rookies & Inserts … FUN!!!

So, I basically have a stockpile of cards that are stars, rookies, inserts, refractors, parallels, minis, short prints, serial numbered, etc.  If I had to put a number on it, I'd say maybe 25,000-30,000 or so.  Up until recently, I hadn't done any sorting, as I sell them in bulk.  I decided to have some fun, and dive in and sort out the following: All Peyton Manning - Filled a long box full of him All Favre / Brady / Romo - Another long box full Stafford / Sanchez / Bradford Rookies - about 100 of these Kobe / Lebron

Topps Complete Sets for your College Tuition

So, admittedly 2012 has not been the best to me so far just yet when it comes to work. Very many hard things to go through, that have made me pull out my hair. I just noticed that I had not made a blog posting in a very long time ... since last year, in fact! I know it has been less than 2 weeks, but that seems to be an eternity.   I was just thinking about a deal I made a while back, and it stemmed from what many parents/grandparents did back in the 80s/90s.  They bought their child/grandchild

165,000 cards locked and loaded…

Ok, so I thought I was going to be getting 300,000 cards this weekend, but it turned out to be 165,000 which of course is perfectly fine - the plans are to grab the rest after Christmas.  Sunday afternoon, I met at my friend's storage unit and loaded up my family-mobile minivan sans the back seat, and drove back.  I had several binders up front with me, and there was a binder filled with 1981 Donruss poking out.  That was kind of cool - I saw some good names like Mike Schmidt and others.  I also found a bunch of
