If you are like me, you are in love with shiny cards.  If you are also like me, you can be frustrated with how the shine doesn’t translate well online.  Let’s face it – sharing our cards online has become a big part of our hobby, so for maximum enjoyment, it is always best to give them the greatest shine!

For months, I have posted clips that are a few seconds long of me showing the shine of various cards on social media (facebook and twitter) and they have been really well received.  People always ask me how I do it and wonder what equipment setup I have, so I wanted to write up something to show how you can do it, too.  It is SUPER simple, and I hope it gives you as much joy as it has given me!  Many (not all) of the cards I post are low dollar, so that way if people see a card they like, they can hop on over to comc or ebay and pick one up – or at least put it on their want list.  You don’t need big $$$ to enjoy collecting and get some shiny goodness into your own collection.  I think now is a great time to buy these lower end superstar inserts from an investment perspective anyway.

All I do is take out my phone, turn the flash on and record a 5-7 second video of whatever card I want to display while I’m tilting the card in various positions.  I try not to get the actual flash showing on the card itself while doing this.  In creating such a short clip, Facebook and Twitter will automatically loop it, so you and your audience can enjoy your card for hours 🙂

Here are a few examples of what I have done on Facebook and Twitter of Frank Thomas, Mark McGwire, Chipper Jones, Derek Jeter and Ken Griffey Jr.
