Top 100 Jose Canseco Baseball Cards – 1997 Collector’s Choice You Crash the Game Instant Winner

Introducing Jose’s toughest pack-pulled A’s card from his playing career (sans 1/1s) …

The 1997 Collector’s Choice You Crash the Game insert was Upper Deck’s way of going beyond the cardboard, and adding an interactive element for collectors.

Each player had three identical cards (these are common) – each with different dates marked in red foil. If the player depicted hit a home run during those dates, you could send it in for an “upgraded” version of the card for that same player.

Series two was released with an “Instant Winner” parallel noted as a case hit.

As we all know, case hits are special. The reason these are so incredibly tough, is that they had to survive a second wave of scarcity as well.

If a collector pulled an Instant Win parallel of ANY player, they could redeem the single card for an entire upgraded set. The set includes big names, too – Griffey, Thomas, Bonds, McGwire, ARod – all the big names were in there. Because of the set’s star power and upgrade appeal, the Instant Winner cards didn’t really have much of a chance of survival.

PSA shows just how tough these Instant Winners are. In the 30 card set, only 8 of the players have Instant Winners that are graded, and most of these only have one copy graded.
