Top 100 Jose Canseco Baseball Cards – 2004 SP Game Used Hall of Fame Numbers
This is a special pair of cards in more ways than one. 2004 SP Game Used was an incredible release, and as the beneficiaries of insane cards produced due to heavy card company competition, we collectors were treated to some mind-blowing innovations.
Both of these versions are special. For the autographed version, it is IMPOSSIBLE to find, and holds the distinction of being Jose’s first die-cut auto patch, and vertical auto patch. I suppose you have to be a complete cardboard nerd to understand the coolness of that. (Tied with a vertical 1/1 from the same release, but not die-cut, and from a completely different insert set.)
For the non auto patch, it might also be his first vertical non auto patch card (Tied with a different /50 patch card from the same set.) Out of all the copies of this card I’ve seen, this one is my absolute favorite looking patch in this card.
Perhaps the coolest thing about the pair of these, is their incredible die cut and design. Upper Deck was able to do this incredible die-cut while maintaining the same dimensions of a regular, rectangular card. It truly is a remarkable looking spectacle. No joke, the patch card just might be the nicest looking/coolest innovation for a patch card of Jose I’ve ever seen, and it was produced over 20 years ago.
