It has begun.

Well, peeps - it's happening. Bowman is now releasing autograph-only boxes. Is this the beginning of our hobby turning upside down? In this cardboard enthusiast's opinion, the answer is YES. In the year 2020, we will see this as the norm, where every single card of every single product is autographed...except for the case hit: A non-autographed base card. Before you know it, the card companies will turn every single living player (current and former) into Pete Rose - that is, it will be tough to find a card NOT autographed of any given player. This will also change the

Holographic Projection Custom Card

Today, I played around with some video and graphics editing programs to see what a holographic projection baseball card would look like, using my most recent baseball video card custom.  Here is a video and a pic.  I think they turned out cool!

100 Griffey Rookies Sell Each Day

For the past few years, I've really been trying to wrap my brain around junk wax production numbers and cardboard scarcity in general.  From 1987 to 1992, we have heard numbers anywhere from 1 to 7 million made for nearly every single card.  I try to visualize what that would look like if you and I stood in front of the entire production run of a single solitary junk wax card, and how many of these monster boxes it would take to store them: Y'all, 5,000 cards of a single card is a lot.  If you have collected for a while, you

My April Fools Prank – What Was Yours?

Not sports or sports card related, but I thought I'd share some post-mortem april fools goodness with you all. I have a lot of traumatizing experiences with April Fool's past.  Like when my parents gave me a bowl of chocolate ice cream before going to bed - only to find out they were refried beans.  I *hate* refried beans.  No, they did not give me a real bowl of chocolate ice cream, either. Or how about the time when I was in 7th grade.  I went to bed dreading school the next day (I *HATED* school - 7th grade was the worst

Making Your High End Cards SPARKLE Online – Animated Gif Tutorial

In my last article, I had a bunch of people asking "How did you do that?" If you are one of those people, then this is for you. Why do this? Sharing our collection with others on the web has become as big a part of collecting as the actual collecting. The last thing we want is to show off our favorite cards, and have them look lackluster. Scanning, pictures, etc. can all yield different results. I always spend a good amount of time figuring out how to get the perfect light (ESPECIALLY when it comes to refractive cards). Take

I’m on the front page of Topps!

I have had the pleasure of being a guest blogger for Topps, and you can see my moustachioed face at www.Topps.com - hurry though, because they will probably take it down soon! (Fun fact:  All of the visible cards you see were actually photoshopped in the picture, including the hand print card on the wall.  When this picture was taken, I didn't yet own most of the cards shown!)  Here is a direct link to the article: https://www.topps.com/blog/jose-canseco-topps-collector/ Here are some fun graphics from the article! Nearly 100 DIFFERENT Archives Signature Series Canseco cards .... I actually have two more than what is pictures

Ladies and Gentlemen, I've made it. I'm not saying that BOuschi and myself are one in the same; I'm just saying that no one has ever seen us in the same room together before.  ;) In addition to this, if you wanted to type in :bouschi: when making a thread at BO, the mug you see above shows up. Catch Me on Television! + My Favorite Customs so Far

This past month was CRAZY busy, and it doesn't look like it is going to let up anytime soon!  Youth group get togethers at our house, my son's 14th birthday party sleepover (re-scheduled due to him being sick) a father-son retreat (cancelled due to lack of sign-ups), Halloween, World Series, meetings, my son getting baptized, paintball party, a marriage conference and our 15th anniversary, there doesn't look to be much downtime in the near future. In doing some of these things, I figured why not do custom relic cards?  Imagine all of the custom relic cards we could all have

Digital Download Cards Sell for HUNDREDS of Dollars

"Excuse me sir, what are you doing?" I was caught red-handed. A well dressed young man of about 20 years was looking over my shoulder as I was admiring my collection of baseball cards from my website on my phone while waiting for my cinnamon crunch bagel at Panera.  Yeah, I'm REAL cool.  All kinds of people at the restaurant on their phones doing millennial things - texting, facebooking, tweeting.  And me?  I'm looking at pictures of my baseball cards.  Slowing going through my favorite patch cards, then swiping feverishly through a large rainbow to get a fun effect of
