As someone who is fascinated with extra terrestrial … everything, I have been quite disappointed with the lack of “real” ufo sightings in the past 5 years.  I mean, c’mon folks!  If you are 12 or older, the odds are that you have an HD ready video camera in your pocket at all times.  Lets put the naysayers to rest!  This is your chance!  Unless … gulp … there haven’t been any visitations.  I still hold out hope!

If you can’t take a selfie with ET, there are some other cool things you can do with your camera.  For instance – take your pic with a choco taco …

Too small for you? How about take another picture, only holding it closer to the camera.

Das’ what I’m talking ’bout, Willis.

Or how about an intense game of fooseball between your son and your … dog?

“Mama says fooseball’s the devil!”

What about these gloves I found in the garage?

More specifically this one …

Wouldn’t it be cool if I were to be able to make a card out of it? Sweet Spot did it, and it looked awesome. I loved how they came out.  I have a love affair with pretty much all baseball cards, but the more innovative, the better.

So, I figured – why not use some camera trickery and make it look like I made a glove card?

Actually, I did make the card!  But isn’t it cool how the pic above turned out to where the glove stitching on the card matched up with the glove stitching still on the glove?  That was completely by accident.  I wanted to have a pic of the card being held by the glove that I used for it.

Here it is out of the case …

You can even see my example Canseco signature on the glove to see how the marker would show up when having him autograph it.  I think it all came together nicely.  The silver holographic frame, the 2 stitchings  and Jose on both sides, in a throwback White Sox uniform.  Can’t wait to get this puppy signed!  I played with the design quite a bit – it may not translate well in these pics, the but the middle section has a wood color, where the letters look branded in.  Really cool stuff!

Moving forward, I have really been wanting to do something like triple threads for a long time.  Triple Threads is probably my favorite type of card.  They do some really cool stuff, and 2013 is hands down, my favorite design.  I love when they spell things!  I will be doing a word TTT card later, but for now, I wanted to do one with a mix of styles and add my own design tastes to it, to amp it up for my own personal collection.

First, let’s have some fun with the logo ….

Ah!  much better!  Now, let’s get to work…

I won’t bore you with the details.  I may have taken a dozen hours to get this puppy right.  First, I came up with this version:

It turned out to be a cool card!  As a matter of fact, I had it sitting on my desk for half the day before I knew I had to destroy it.  It refracted light, but not well enough.  It was dark (much darker than the pic suggests!)  and Jose looked like he had a bit of a sun burn.

I honestly can tell you I was on the fence when I was starting to make another one.  I didn’t want to do it!  It took sooooo long.  But, in the end, I’m glad I did!  Here it is:

Far, far, far superior in person to the first one!  I’m very happy with how it came out, and cannot wait to get it signed!  You won’t find a TTT card quite like it, as I made my adjustments and enhancements.

Finally, to end up the week, I wanted to continue with a piece of a jumbo patch that is in my game used Canseco stash.  My first thought was to do some sort of a Triple Threads book, but I ended up doing a completely custom design, while using the Tanner’s Threads fake logo that I liked so much.

Here is the back of the patch being cut up.  There is plenty of swatch material behind the patch that I didn’t want to just hide in the card … that way, I can use it for cards later!

So, here is what I came up with … (do you understand how unbelievably giddy I’d be if I pulled this from a pack???)

The back …(thank goodness I recently clipped my thumbnail)

All of the inside …

Overall, I’m very happy with this week’s work for my personal collection. Can’t wait to get them signed!
